The 200 local super centres (polyclinics) to be run by Tesco, Virgin and American HMO's
the government is not only interested in selling our medical details to insurance companies(1), its wants to privatise us by selling us to private health companies such as Tesco's and Virgin, that will run these "poly clinics/super centres". A surgery I use has already been sold to Virgin!!
Asvampwillow has just said an American HMO 'bought' 3 local surgies in kentish town. They didn't even put the highest offer in. Corruption anybody? I bet its the HMO that the adviser to Gordon Brown has just become head of?
Remember how there used to be a post office on every corner, and now you have to go into a big town? Who needs a local doctors surgery when people can travel to see a doctor in a big town's super centre? You can pick up your healthcare at Tesco's (healthcare), along with your prescription and your groceries.
Meanwhile companies like Virgin healthcare like any supermarket will reduce cost from suppliers i.e. doctors and nurses, by getting rid of experienced doctors. You'll still get a doctor, but who knows how they will feel about your sexuality, race, body shape, what if they refuse treatment say an abortion on religious grounds? As advertised by the government you will not have any regular doctor, it will be a cattle call like A&E who will rely solely on your notes, which we all know are always correct! We already have payment by results, pay linked to keeping medical cost down i.e. refusing care, will be here all too soon.
Of course if you want a regular doctor I'm sure you be able to BUY a PRIVATE doctor for a price! Think about getting a dentist now? Go watch Sicko if you want to see what we have to look forward too. As private health insurance become ever more 'attractive' - such as American style HMO's.
(1) If you need referring to another doctor or clinic all your details including medical details MUST be uploaded to a central database. These details are then sold on who ever will pay. So for example bloggs insurance knows your bisexual and thus your mortgages (because of life insurance) goes up - because of fears by companies that you will become ill.
Please tell others or repost it on your journal - this is entirely about the government privatising healthcare along American HMO lines. We need to tell the world before the government force this through.
